Guterres told delegates at the World Jewish Congress that “Israel needs to be treated like any other UN member state” and that it had an “undeniable right to exist and to live in peace and security with its neighbors.”

Guterres also recalled the history of his native Portugal, where Jews in the Middle Ages suffered from a “systematic policy of discrimination” and were eventually expelled, calling this a “tremendous crime and the most stupid mistake ever made in Portugal.”

“Anti-Semitism never died despite the shock of the Holocaust,” Guterres acknowledged, noting the prevalence of hate speech on the internet as well as vandalism against Jewish sites and cemeteries.

Guterres’ talk marked the first time that a UN secretary general addressed a gathering of Jewish leaders.

All 100 U.S. senators signed a letter Thursday asking U.N. Secretary General António Guterres to address what the lawmakers call entrenched bias against Israel at the world body. Returning home on Saturday night after a dinner in Manhattan with some longtime friends, Gregory Locke boarded a No. 1 subway train and was confronted with an ugly sight.

The car’s windows and posters were covered in anti-Semitic graffiti, according to accounts from Mr. Locke and another passenger in the car, Jared Nied.

Today (Tuesday), as part of a planned operation, two undercover police officers dressed as IDF soldiers were attacked in the city of Beit Shemesh by Haredi Jews. Reinforcements waiting nearby arrested two of the suspected attackers.

The Haredi argue that they should not be enlisted as Torah Study builds a spiritual defense for the nation. Furthermore, serving in the IDF would result in undermining the Torah-based Haredi lifestyle.

Earlier today, a person was filmed around Eastern Avenue disseminating material defending Holocaust denier David Irving. The footage, posted earlier by Pulp, depicts a man stapling flyers to noticeboards that criticised Mike Jackson’s recent film Denial, which details the British defamation trial between Irving and Holocaust scholar Deborah Lipstadt.

The flyer has also been found at other university campuses, such as Australian National University, Monash University, and Melbourne University, as well as other British universities, including, University College London, Cambridge University, Edinburgh University, and Glasgow University as reported by the ABC.

A young Israeli backpacker claims she was turned away by a Cairns body piercer, who she said has a “no Israelis served here” sign in his studio.

Mohr Wenger said she was left so shaken by the incident at Cold Steel Body Piercing in what she termed, Australia, the country she had perceived as “the land of no worries”, it took her two days to write a Facebook post that has been widely shared, according to news.com.au.

In the post she wrote on Saturday, she said she and a friend travelling around Australia, heard about the studio and excitedly went to have their noses pierced last week.However, when the man asked where she and her friend were from, he turned them away when they answered “Israel”, saying it was “out of principal (sic)”.
