A street sign appearing to read ‘Beware of Jews’ was spotted close to a synagogue in London.Stamford Hill, the neighborhood it appeared in, is thought to be home to the largest Charedi Jewish community in Europe, the BBC reports.

The sign imitated the red triangular signs that are used on British streets to warn drivers of potential road hazards.

Instead of a normal symbol however it featured the silhouette of an orthodox Jewish man wearing a fedora.

Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain and the Kiwi director of her new movie, are celebrating both the strength and the tenderness of women.

Chastain, New Zealand director Niki Caro, and other actors were in Warsaw today for a gala screening of the movie The Zookeeper’s Wife.

It tells the real-life story of the World War II director of the Warsaw zoo, Jan Zabinski, and of his wife Antonina, who jointly saved up to 300 Jews, hiding them in their home on the zoo grounds and in animal enclosures, risking their own lives and those of their two children.

Shot in Prague, Czech Republic, the movie opens in theatres on March 31.

JERUSALEM (AP) ” Israel is the big surprise of the World Baseball Classic, upsetting three teams, generating buzz and offering a mascot like no other: “The Mensch on the Bench.”

Back home, no one seems to notice.

Baseball has long been overlooked in Israel, seen as an arcane and boring game. This team consists almost entirely of American pros of Jewish descent. It has been derided as a group of mercenaries with little connection to the country.

Israel entered this showcase tournament ranked 41st in the world, the lowest ranked and last team to qualify. In quick succession, however, the Israelis beat third-ranked South Korea 2-1 in extra innings in the opening game before topping fourth-ranked Taiwan 15-7 and ninth-ranked the Netherlands 4-2 to finish first in Pool A with a 3-0 record.

JERUSALEM (AP) ” Intel announced Monday it will spend more than $15 billion to acquire Mobileye, an Israeli company that develops technology that essentially gives computers a sense of their physical surroundings ” the largest high-tech acquisition in the history of the Jewish State.

Faced with limited natural resources, Israel has fostered a vibrant high-tech culture in recent decades. Mobileye joined a long list of high-tech companies that have earned Israel the nickname “Startup Nation.”

The country is a popular destination for global venture capital funds seeking to capitalize on Israel’s entrepreneurial spirit, as well as expertise honed in universities and advanced technology units of the Israeli military.

According to the World Economic Forum, of a total $373 billion in venture capital invested globally from 2006 to 2013, $13.1 billion was invested in Israeli companies ” one of the highest in the world and more than both India and Canada.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) ” Several hundred Palestinians marched in an anti-government protest Monday, calling for the resignation of President Mahmoud Abbas and criticizing his security coordination with Israel.

Separately, Palestinian journalists staged a sit-in nearby to protest the violent dispersal of an anti-government protest by Palestinian riot police a day earlier.

In Sunday’s incident, helmeted troops beat demonstrators and journalists with clubs. Jihad Barakat of Palestine Today TV said he was pushed and that his camera was broken. He said he saw three colleagues being beaten with clubs.Critics have said Abbas and his government are becoming increasingly intolerant of dissent.

JERUSALEM (AP) ” Israeli police say troops have shot and killed a Palestinian assailant who stabbed two policemen in the Old City in Jerusalem.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri says the assailant attacked the two officers early on Monday. She said they engaged in a struggle and one managed to fend the attacker off and shoot him.The attacker was identified as a 26-year-old Arab resident of east Jerusalem. The two policemen were moderately wounded.

Palestinians have killed 41 Israelis and two visiting Americans in a wave of attacks, mainly stabbings, since September 2015. Israeli forces have killed 238 Palestinians during the same period, most identified by Israel as attackers.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) ” Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says U.S. President Donald Trump has assured him of his commitment to Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts.

Abbas on Sunday spoke about what he described as a constructive phone call with Trump two days earlier.The official Palestinian news agency WAFA quoted Abbas as saying that Trump “asserted his full commitment to the peace process.”

Abbas says he told Trump he opposes extremism and will cooperate with the U.S. to reach a peace deal based on the establishment of a Palestinian state next to Israel.

IBDIR, Jordan (AP) ” A Jordanian soldier who killed seven Israeli schoolgirls in a 1997 shooting rampage was unrepentant after his release from prison Sunday, lashing out at Israelis with harshly derogatory remarks.Ahmed Daqamseh, who had spent 20 years in prison, was given a rousing welcome in his home village in northern Jordan after his release. He was greeted by chanting supporters who kissed him on the cheek and raised a photo of him with the caption, “Welcome to the hero Daqamseh.”

JERUSALEM (AP) ” Israel’s defense minister says the U.S. has notified Israel that imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank would lead to an “immediate crisis” with the Trump administration.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Monday that, “We received a direct message ” not an indirect message and not a hint ” from the United States. Imposing Israeli sovereignty on Judea and Samaria would mean an immediate crisis with the new administration.”
