After October 7, Israel needs your Love

Livestream: 23/03/2024 Tony Kan Friends for Israel – YouTube

The October 7 Massacres were a turning point in Israel’s relations against Gaza.

Hamas’ brutality, its targetting of women for rape, disfigurement, its indiscriminant execution and torture of civilians horrified the world.

Hundreds of hostages were taken.

In this latest conflict, everything is being turned upside down.

Hamas has turned homes into battlefield cover, civilians into shields and even UN agencies into extensions of its own organization.

Now months later, it is Israel that is being vilified and not Hamas.

Today, chants such as “K– the Jews! F– the Jews! G– the Jews!” can be heard and nothing is done about it.

October 7 has launched a wave of Anti-Semitism across the world and New Zealand is caught up in it too.

For us New Zealanders, for Christians, for Jews, for Atheists, for Muslims, for anyone who believes in justice, what does this mean?  What is our connection to the modern state of Israel?  Why should we care? And if we care, what should we do?

If what you have seen through the news has stirred something inside you, and you’ve been wanting to know what you can do about it then join us on Saturday, March 23, 2.30 pm at Church on Vogel.

Please bring a plate of finger food.  We’d be grateful if you didn’t include any pork or seafood products.

CHRISTCHURCH: Open Meeting Panel Discussion on the Christian attitude toward Israel and Gaza @ Hornby Presbyterian Church
Apr 21 @ 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Hi Folks

Are you shocked by the killing of innocent civilians?  Are you feeling conflicted as to who is “in the right” in the Israeli-Gaza conflict?  Why as a Christian should you care about a dispute on the other side of the world?  Are you puzzling over what a Christian response should be?  If any of these questions resonate with you, then this event is for you.

Hope Presbyterian in Amyes Rd Hornby, has invited us to join a discussion panel at their evening service, this Sunday at 7pm.

The topic is:  What should be the Christian attitude toward Israel and Gaza?

They have already had two sermons over the last two weeks on the history of Israel for background, and the sermons can be found here (click the image):

You’re invited to take part in this fascinating discussion.  The Q&A session is going to be informative and rewarding.  Even more so, if you have thought about it already so bring some questions with you.

See you there!

CHRISTCHURCH: Israel Weekly Solidarity March @ Bridge of Remembrance
Apr 28 @ 1:30 PM

After the October 7 massacres, over a hundred hostages still remain in captivity.

Hamas agreed to a hostage release of all women and children.  They reneged.

Since then they have refused all offers for a ceasefire.

Join us every Sunday at 2pm, at the Bridge of Remembrance, rain or shine to show our solidarity with the Hostages and Israel.

Don’t let the anti-Israel forces create an Orwellian world where

  • torture and rape are legitimate resistance,
  • civilians are human shields,
  • the UN and its facilities are extensions of Hamas,
  • legitimate warfare is a “war against children”

See you there!
