HANUKKAH PARTY

CHRISTCHURCH:
SUNDAY, 2PM, 2 DECEMBER 2018

WOOLSTON COMMUNITY CENTRE, 689 FERRY RD

Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of rededication, also known as the festival of lights, is an eight-day festival beginning on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kislev.  In 2018, it will begin on the evening of December 2.

Hanukkah is probably one of the best-known Jewish holidays, not because of any great religious significance, but because of its proximity to Christmas. Many non-Jews (and even many assimilated Jews!) think of this holiday as the Jewish Christmas, adopting many of the Christmas customs, such as elaborate gift-giving and decoration.

This Year we are organizing a celebration with many family-oriented activities and tasty traditional Hanukkah foods.

  • Food
  • Dreidel competition
  • Face painting
  • Card making workshops
  • Music
  • Folk dancing
  • Chanukiah making workshops
  • Challah bread making workshop

Where:  Woolston Community Centre, 689 Ferry Rd, Christchurch.
When: 2pm-5pm, Sunday December 2, 2018.
Admission:  A collection will be taken to help defray expenses; please bring a plate of Hanukkah themed food.   For inspiration, see https://ind.pn/2OlymL9
