You’re invited to a talk given by

Ken Maclaren

a member of NZFOI based in the Hawkes Bay

on

7.30pm, Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Venue:

Mary Potter Community Centre

442 Durham Street North, St Albans, Christchurch 8014

Ken Maclaren first went to Israel in 1979 as an 18 year old Kibbutz volunteer. It was the first of several extended trips.

After a forty three year gap, he’s just got back from a three-month stint of volunteering in Beer’sheva.

He describes his most recent trip as a combination of fun, inspiration, surprise, surreal, informative, a touch scary, absolute horror but above all very, very normal.

Ken will talk to us about his memories, and observations, the extreme differences and reassuring similarities and messages we can share as to why Israel matters for us in New Zealand as well as the rest of the world.

Please bring a plate of finger food.  No pork or seafood ingredients, thanks!

Not everyone has email, or receives our newsletter by snail mail, so if you have friends or acquaintances that would be interested, please do let them know about this heartwarming event.
