The Holocaust Centre of New Zealand is honoured to invite you to a special community screening of our vital new educational film, We Were Just Children.
Supported by funding from the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, this deeply moving project connects New Zealand Holocaust survivor stories directly to the present day. Through personal testimonies, newly filmed interviews, and carefully crafted visual storytelling, the film explores not only the profound history and loss these individuals experienced as children, but also the immense courage, resilience, and remarkable lives they rebuilt right here in New Zealand.
Designed to foster empathy and critical thinking, We Were Just Children serves as a powerful reminder of how easily prejudice can become policy, how societies can slide into violence, and why standing up early against hatred is a shared responsibility for all of us in the modern world.
Following the screening, please join us for an insightful live panel discussion exploring the film’s themes, history, and modern-day relevance.

General admission: $30 + $1.20 booking fee
HCNZ members and senior citizens: $25 + $1.05m booking fee
Students: $20 + $0.90 booking fee
