One of the central challenges of international law is the enforcement of its rules, since states often do not fulfill the obligations they have assumed under international treaties or the duties of customary international law which is binding on all states.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr Amichai Cohen is the vice-Dean and Professor of International Law at the Ono Academic College – Faculty of Law, Israel. He is a research fellow at the Israeli Democracy Institute. He is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and of the Yale Law School. His main areas of interest include international humanitarian law, the interaction between international law and domestic law and institutions and Israel’s National Security Law. Dr Cohen is currently visiting New Zealand as speaker of the Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law (ANZSIL) Conference.
