The October 7 attack on Israel has had a huge impact on the world. New Zealand has not been immune:
- Antisemitism commonly expressed in public
- An Israeli tourist has been hospitalised
- Jewish children are being bullied for being Jewish at school
- The New Zealand government has joined other countries in condemning Israel’s conduct
- Jewish students are being intimidated and abused on New Zealand university campuses
- Families have been split and often can’t discuss it because feelings run so high
- New Zealand Friends of Israel has received numerous death threats
- Israel’s supporters have had their information kiosks attacked
- Israeli documentaries are boycotted and attendees intimidated as they enter theatres
- Pro-Palestinian supporters have attempted to entrap Pro-Israel supporters by goading them into violent acts
- Jews are choosing to hide their identities from public view
